Dear DCC Church family,
For many years, the pews in which you are sitting have well-served the ministries of Damascus Community Church. Not only have they been used each Sunday for worship services, but they have provided seating for DCS chapels, band and choir concerts, drama presentations, community meetings, weddings, etc.
In recent months, however, their need for repair has converged with several requests for ministry space to facilitate the growing ministry of the DCC body. As we considered our responsibility before God to steward our current building well even as we look to the future of a new one, the DCC staff decided that replacing the pews with chairs would be the best way to maximize the use of one of our largest meeting spaces, and to facilitate current and future ministry space requests. Just in the last year, for example, we have had to turn down or simply not pursue some opportunities for ministry due to this lack of space.
The request was recently approved by the Elders, and we will soon be removing the pews and installing cushioned chairs in the main level of the auditorium.
If you have any questions, please contact Jim Vestigo, Zach Davidson, or Andy McClellan (while Pastor Steve is on sabbatical).
