Our goal at Damascus Community Church
is to strengthen and mature every believer, and
to present them complete in Christ, (Colossians
1:28). In order to accomplish this goal, we offer
Sunday School for children from nursery age through
sixth grade.
Child
Safety:
Damascus Community Church must be a safe place
for all children. One aspect of this is our “two
adult rule”, which simply says our ministries
will operate with a minimum of two adults in
each gathering of children. While every effort
is being made to recruit sufficient numbers of
adults to meet this need, parents need to be
aware that a parent may be asked to remain in
the room if two adults are not present when they
come to drop off their child. Also for the
security of our children, we ask that they be
picked up by parents from their classrooms.
Nursery
The
nursery is located in the south hall on the main
floor. A trained staff of volunteer adults and teens
care for children from birth through 2 years of
age. In case a child needs his/her parents, we have
a numerical paging system in the auditorium.
Children
Our
educational focus on Sunday mornings is Sunday School
for children age 2 through sixth grade during our
Community Group hour (9:45 am). Dedicated volunteer
adult teachers and teen helpers serve in the pre-school
and school age departments. Currently, we offer
Sunday School for pre-school age children during
all three morning services (8:30 am, 9:45 am and
11:00 am). This is a curriculum based education
and equipping ministry to lead our children to Christ
and to mature them in their knowledge of, and relationship
with, Christ.
AWANA
is our Sunday evening (5:15 pm - 7:00 pm)
ministry to children pre-school through 6th
grade. This ministry is strong on Scripture
memory work and is attractive to young people
because of its game time, prizes and special
events. Contact the Awana Commander,. The
2012-2013 Calendar is here.
