Get Your Act Together!

Saturday, March 13th, 2010 was the date for our annual DCS parents and friends gathering. For eight years, we sponsored an auction to help raise funds for various activities and school projects. Last year, we decided to forego the auction and focus instead on an evening centered upon our high school students’ fine arts accomplishments. Gorgeous quilts, precise woodworking projects, improvisation, jazz band, high school ensemble, drawing, painting and writing were all featured. In addition, nationally-known comedian Tim Hawkins kept everyone in stitches with his wacky but right-on comedy. Signature desserts and table decorations produced by DCS parents and friends provided visual and gastronomical delight to all.

For 2010-2011, we sought to provide something different – a home grown variety show! We began looking for local (school) talent at a student and parent level. Groups, individuals, vocal, magic, instrument, stand up comedy, or …? We held auditions in January to determine the line-up for the variety show. That, coupled with our fine arts presentations provided a wonderful, entertaining evening for school families and friends. In addition, we provided an opportunity to invest in the DCS ministry.
