Last week, Pastor Andy had the opportunity to interview Mike Contreras of Base Ministry (formerly Youth Missions International). For many years, Damascus Community Church supported Mike and Pam as missionaries through YMI, as well as other agencies. Mike's primary focus during those times was on international leadership training and sports camp leadership development.
In 2018, a new ministry called Mission Connect was birthed to provide funding for these ministries, with Mike taking on the role of President. He continues to be involved in both the leadership of MC and Base Ministry, and is a key networker and trainer for Base's two ministry arms, Base Mission (international training) and Base Sports (sports camps).
In 2020, it became clear through discussions between the Contreras' and their DCC Barnabas Team that the support from DCC would be best served in supporting Base Ministry's international training program directly. Mike and Pam continue to be the primary recipients of that support.
