Dear DCC Family,

Praise the Lord with me as I am back home after having traveled for two weeks! Overall, both the conference in Orlando and the training trip in the Dominican Republic went very well. Here is a brief overview of the trips!

A coworker and I worked Base Ministry’s resource booth for three days at the Children’s Pastor’s Conference and were able to make great connections with youth pastors and ministry workers from all across the country! Pray for fruitful partnerships to come from those conversations.

The following week, a team of staff including myself with Mike Contreras, Geno Hunt, and Jonathan Peralta, traveled to San Pedro de Marcoris, Dominican Republic. Our goal for this trip was to work with Mark and Patty Palma—missionaries at IBEM church—in starting up a soccer ministry by training leaders how to share the gospel through sports. While this was an overarching goal, my team did many other things too! Some activities included:

  • Leading high school chapel and teaching soccer in 6 different PE classes at Las Palmas Christian School
  • Running bilingual trainings for a few hours each evening—we had a good turnout of 10-15 adults!
  • Meeting people from Mercy Ministry (an outreach to women on the streets of San Pedro)
  • Teaching at the Friday night youth group
  • Helping leaders run a soccer outreach on Saturday morning—32 kids showed up!
  • Sharing testimonies at church and small group on Sunday.

One story I want to share is about a young man (17yrs) who attends Las Palmas and attended our leadership trainings all week. He showed such enthusiasm in learning that we challenged him to share the Bible story on our Saturday outreach camp. He agreed and did amazing! All the leaders led small groups and God’s love was shared to every kid there. Praise God!

As my team and I reflect on the trip, there are countless times that we saw God’s faithfulness at work in logistics, conversations, and relationships that were built. Thank you for praying for me and my team. What you have been partnering with me in—whether in prayer or financial support—has caused new leaders to be trained, new youth to gain experience in the mission field, and new relationships to be built across the world.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Amanda
